Terms of Service

Last updated: 5 November 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ChessTropic, including the website, training tools, repertoire builder, community courses, and paid plans (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

ChessTropic is an online chess opening study and practice tool for educational and personal use. It is not professional coaching and does not guarantee results. Features and availability may change as we improve the product.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your login details confidential. Email accounts must be confirmed before you can sign in. You are responsible for activity under your account.

One person may use one account. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account, or let others use paid access billed to you.

You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country, or use the Service only with a parent or guardian’s permission where required.

3. Paid plans

Your first opening course is included at no charge. Additional courses and paid plan perks require a paid plan. Prices and inclusions are shown at checkout and on the plan page at the time of purchase.

Paid access continues until cancelled or expired under the payment provider’s terms. Unless required by law, fees are non-refundable once a billing period has started.

You must not bypass usage limits, share paid access, or obtain paid features without paying.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in a way that breaks applicable law;
  • harass others, post abusive content, or misuse community features;
  • scrape, copy, or redistribute our content or other users’ content at scale without permission;
  • interfere with the Service, including probing, overloading, or bypassing security or rate limits;
  • reverse engineer the Service except where the law allows it.

We may suspend or close an account that violates these Terms.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of courses, lines, comments, and other material you create (“Your Content”). You grant ChessTropic a licence to host, display, and process Your Content so we can operate the Service, including public community courses you choose to publish.

You are responsible for Your Content and must have the rights to submit it. We may remove content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or the law.

6. Our content and trademarks

The Service, including software, design, official opening material, and the ChessTropic name and branding, is owned by us or our licensors. You may use the Service as intended. You may not copy, resell, or create a competing product from our materials without written permission.

7. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that opening data or training results are complete or accurate.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChessTropic and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty euros if you have not paid us, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum allowed by law.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, for legal or security reasons, or if we discontinue the Service.

Sections that by their nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive termination.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

11. Contact

Questions about these Terms: [email protected] or our contact page.
